Therefore, after 20 years of history, we have also evolved to reiterate to all Colombian citizens that we are committed to accompany them in their dally lives. We are Enel-Codensa and Enel-Emgesa, and as a sample of the changes that we are implementing in the country’s companies, we are unifying local learning and experience with the support, knowledge and best practices available as part of the Enel global brand.
WHAT WE ARE AND WHERE WE ARE HEADING
With the objective of producing and delivering the energy Colombia needs, Codensa and Emgesa were born in 1997, to further the purpose of contributing to the country’s progress and development. Years later, we became part of the Enel Group, a multinational energy company present in 34 countries and 5 continents, and which distributes electricity and gas through a network over 2 million kilometers long, and with nearly 72 million residential and businesses clients around the world.
Over the years and thanks to the strengthening and modernization of our infrastructure, Codensa is the energy company with the most coverage in the country, thus taking energy to more than 3.4 million clients. In addition, Emgesa has about 465 customers in the non-regulated colombian market, a total installed generation capacity of more than 3,500 MW, with 15 hydroelectric energy generation plants and two thermal generation plants.
Currently, as part of the Enel Group’s growth strategy for the country, the companies use the global corporate Enel logo, both companies evolved to become Enel-Codensa and Enel-Emgesa within the framework of a transformation process aligned with the Enel Group’s Open Power strategy, which aims to address some of the world’s greatest challenges, such as giving more people access to energy, incorporating new technologies to the energy markets, and finding new ways of managing consumer energy, finding new uses and giving new collaborators access to energy.

OUR ENERGY IS INNOVATION AND PROGRESS
As our companies evolved, we were able to consolidate our growth oriented business strategy, to be more efficient, to identify new business opportunities, and come closer to our people and customers.
We have continuously invested in modernizing our electrical networks, which allows us to improve the quality of our service, and leads to the adoption of innovative technological solutions such as telecontrol, the use of drones and helicopters, and the incorporation of smart metering. In addition, we want our customers to have the best experience when they reach out us, and for this we have been developing our digital systems in a way that allows us to optimize our key interactions, and to improve the process as a whole in order to make it even more timely, customized and agile. At the same time, we are providing companies with solar energy solutions; modernizing public lighting in Bogota and Cundinamarca with LED technology; and, promoting the Country’s electric mobility with the execution and implementation of a wide range of initiatives from electric car and bicycle rental, to commissioning electric buses. In the same way, we are working on being more energy efficient, through important projects that improve the efficiency of our power plants, and by diversifying our country’s energy matrix.
Through this whole new perspective, we are broadening our energy perspective, and taking the initiative to lead our country’s innovation and progress. This is an opportunity to contribute to the growth of our cities and transform them into smart places, thus improving peoples’ quality of life by illuminating their lives and facilitating their path to a better future.
