Electronic billing for public utility services
Here you will find all the information you need to know about Enel’s electronic billing: what it is, how it works, why you should register, and key details to help you understand this document.
What is electronic billing?
It is the electronic issuance of your bill, which complies with the legal and tax requirements established by Colombia’s National Tax and Customs Authority (DIAN). Enel Colombia, as a public electricity service provider, will issue an Electronic Equivalent Document.
To enroll in electronic billing, log in to the private area of the website and select the “Electronic Billing” option from the menu.
If your electricity account is not yet associated when you log in, simply enter your customer number and the digits of your meter that appear after the hyphen (you can find them on your bill).

The Virtual Bill (Enel’s graphic representation) is sent to users who have requested to stop receiving it in physical format and prefer to receive it by email.
The Electronic Bill is registered with DIAN and can be viewed using the QR code or the CUDE code included in our bill (Enel’s graphic representation). The Electronic Bill may be sent together with the Virtual Bill (DIAN XML file) when requested by the customer.
To receive the Electronic Bill, it is mandatory to have an email address. If you wish to consult your Electronic Bill using the generic code, you may scan the QR code on your Enel bill (graphic representation) or consult the CUDE on DIAN’s website.
Enel must generate the electronic document for all market customers (residential, business, and government). However, the Electronic Equivalent Document will only be delivered to users who request it. All other customers may consult the information related to their Electronic Bill using the CUDE or QR code included in the graphic representation. If no request is registered, the Electronic Bill will be issued with a generic code (end user).
The CUDE is an alphanumeric value that uniquely identifies the document. The QR code provides the internet location within the Special Administrative Unit of the National Tax and Customs Authority (DIAN) where the information regarding the electronic sales invoice, electronic equivalent document, debit notes, credit notes, and electronic instruments derived from the electronic invoice can be consulted.
It is a regulation that establishes the guidelines and requirements for the implementation of electronic invoicing and the electronic equivalent document in the country, contributing to the prevention of tax evasion.
According to the regulation, issuance of the Electronic Equivalent Document will begin on November 1, 2024. However, the company and the public utilities sector are currently carrying out implementation activities to ensure an appropriate transition to this new model.
The sanitation service bill will be reported to DIAN together with the information provided by Enel regarding the electricity service, since both services are billed and collected in a single document, in compliance with the applicable legal and regulatory framework.
You must update your email address through the channels enabled by Enel to continue receiving your electronic bills without interruption.
You must update your information through the channels enabled by Enel: Enel Service Centers, Customer Service Line: 601 5115 115, or WhatsApp Elena: 316 8906003.
The new tenant may register their information to receive the electronic bill in their name. Once this is done, the previous tenant’s information is automatically disassociated, and only the new user’s details will remain registered for billing purposes.
If you do not receive your electronic bill, first check your spam or junk mail folder. If it is not there, contact Enel’s customer service channels to verify your registered email address. Assisted service channels: Enel Service Centers, Customer Service Line 601 5115 115, WhatsApp Elena 316 8906003.
To stop receiving the electronic bill and return to paper delivery, you must submit a request through Enel’s customer service channels.
For electronic billing registration, the customer must complete the form available on Enel’s website and update the information, including the user’s name (for legal entities, this must reflect the corporate name as registered in the RUT Tax Registry as the income tax payer or contributor). It is important to clarify that this does not imply a change in account ownership; the information updated in Enel’s system corresponds to the “Beneficiary.”
To group parent and subsidiary accounts, the company’s authorized representative must submit a request to servicioalcliente.empresarial@enel.com. For electronic billing purposes, the registration form available on the website (Business Registration button) must be completed and submitted so that all accounts are properly flagged. To facilitate the process, this form is provided in Excel format, avoiding the need to register each account individually.
