What is the purpose of this law?

To ensure that the tenant of a property is responsible for paying the electricity public service during the term of the lease agreement, rather than the property owner. This is done by notifying Enel Colombia S.A. E.S.P. of the lease agreement.

What type of properties does this law apply to?

It applies exclusively to urban residential properties intended for residential use.

What conditions must the property meet?

First, there must be a lease agreement stipulating that payment for the electricity service is the responsibility of the tenant.

Second, at the time the lease agreement is notified to Enel Colombia, the account or property must not have:

• Outstanding unpaid bills.
• Pending claims and/or appeals awaiting response.
• Open cases related to inconsistencies found in the property’s electrical installations and/or meter.
