Goals:

IMS’s goals are to support its policy and continuously improve. These goals are measurable and take into account significant aspects such as: process and SST risks; energy uses and significant energy consumption; and the applicable legal requirements. 

These goals are relevant to the services provided by Enel Colombia group companies in Colombia - ENEL GREEN POWER- in order to increase customer satisfaction, prevent pollution, diseases, accidents and increase energy efficiency.

Risk identification and assessment in processes

Enel Colombia has a methodology for identifying risks at two levels: a strategic level and a process level, which begin by identifying and assessing said risks, to thereon apply the corresponding control. 

Risks and opportunities must be addressed to: 

  • Ensure that IMS can achieve its desired results; 
  • Increase the desired effects (opportunities);
  • Prevent, or reduce, unwanted effects (risks), including the risk potential of external environmental conditions that may have an impact on the organization; 
  • Achieve improvements; Y

Legal and other requirements

Enel Colombia group companies in Colombia, have a methodology for identifying, verifying and monitoring legislation applicable to the diverse activities carried out by the organization, in order to ensure that these legal requirements and others are known by the relevant units and, therefore, take them into account in the establishment, implementation and maintenance of the

Integrated Management System. Legal requirements and other requirements are reviewed at defined intervals.

The company has developed tools aimed at assessing compliance during operations, such as: safety inspections, managerial walks and observations based on behaviors. 

At Enel Colombia SA ESP, technology became part of operational control since implementing the COPILOTOS project which included cameras in order to capture the operation in real time, so

that this information can then be processed and assessed.

Participation and consultation

Enel Colombia Group companies in Colombia have different spaces so workers can participate in hazard identification, risk assessment, deciding on type of controls, incident investigation, development and review of policies, goals, changes in Occupational Health and Safety and communication with contractors. Investigation of Incidents and accidents 

Enel Colombia establishes guidelines and directives for the investigation of work incidents / accidents, which begin by collecting information and end by preparing the accident investigation report.

Emergency preparation and response

In order to manage environmental and health and safety emergencies in work activities, some guidelines have been defined to guarantee fast and effective attention throughout the Enel Colombia group.

The established steps are: identify, evaluate and adopt the necessary measures to manage emergency situations and fires, as well as possible environmental emergencies, by trying to eliminate or minimize impact on the environment, and any risks to collaborators, suppliers and the population. 

Check IMS 

Enel Colombia has defined methods of analysis and evaluation through indicators and controls throughout the process, as an essential strategy for monitoring and controlling macroprocesses, processes, activities and / or project undertaken within the Organization. The indicators are a tool that contributes to continuous improvement and that permits determining whether the Organization’s strategic objectives have been met.

The analyzed and assessed data and information must comply with benchmark requirements in the management system standards - ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environmental), OHSAS 18001 (health and safety) and ISO 50001 (energy) - applicable to the level and period of evaluation, including the management system’s performance and effectiveness, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, performance of external suppliers and identification of new risks and opportunities.

Internal audit

Enel Colombia group companies in Colombia determine the activities needed to plan, execute and document internal audits related to Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems, Environmental, Quality and Energy Efficiency. 

The first-party (internal) audit program ensures that all management systems requirements are audited at least once a year.

Review by the upper management 

Enel Colombia group companies in Colombia establish and implement the methodologies necessary to review the Management Systems in order to guarantee their continued convenience, adequacy and effectiveness, with reference to the requirements of internal and external clients, strategic interests, the company’s economic aspects and market demands. 

Measurement and performance review

Seeking to strengthen the skills of our employees, Enel Colombia periodically assesses its performance management, an activity that focuses employees’ development plans on aspects related to the management system. 

Improving IMS 

Enel Colombia determines and selects opportunities for improvement by making people own the processes, with their subsequent prioritization and handling through an opportunity improvement action plan, in order to comply with customer requirements and increase customer satisfaction, prevent pollution, prevent diseases and accidents and increase energy efficiency.

There may also be improvements resulting from internal and external audits, review meetings by upper management, resulting in the handling of non-conformities and corrective actions. 

Incidents and accidents 

Enel Colombia establishes guidelines and directives for the investigation of work incidents / accidents, and this begins information collection and ends by preparing the accident investigation report.

Nonconformities, corrective and preventive actions 

Enel Colombia group companies in Colombia define the actions and responsibilities in order to mitigate, correct and prevent potential or real nonconformities, in order to prevent their occurrence and recurrence in the Integrated Management Systems. 

Continuous improvement 

The Integrated Management System is permanently assessed and improved in order to achieve its suitability and effectiveness, through the various established mechanisms such as management reviews, audits, process reviews, customer satisfaction, monitoring safety issues, occupational health, environment and energy efficiency, among others.

Innovation

Enel Colombia has focused its efforts on improving its processes through the implementation of new technologies, research etc., to promote IMS’s continuous improvement, such as the development of an EPP for work on electric lines that protect the thoracic region from the electric arc.

  5. Enel Colombia SA ESP has been recognized for excellent management in Road Safety, implementation measures such as the motorcycle standard.
