At Enel Group companies in Colombia, we are of the conviction that anyone can perform any job if they have the training to do it, regardless of their age, gender, political thinking, sexual orientation or religious beliefs. In our companies, we prefer employees who are able to develop freely.
To stay true to our principles and to find value in diversity within our business group, we proactively seek to develop key points that allow us to achieve our objectives, among which are: the breakdown of generational barriers, diversity in the family, multiculturalism and gender equality.
Reaching across the generation gap: Enel Group companies in Colombia prefer being multigenerational where creativity, talent and innovative ideas arise from a variety of people of all ages: At Enel, age diversity is an opportunity for sharing know-how and learning.
Recognizing different family structures: We recognize different family structures and the particular needs they have without making them stick out from more conventional ones. There are people for whom pets are as important as a son, others who form families with parents of the same gender and there are even those who are single and do not want to think about forming a family at all.
Multi-culturality: Because we belong to an international group, Enel Group companies in Colombia live by the open-door philosophy that allows those who work with us to get to know other cultures around the world. We believe that cultural exchange enriches development.
Equality of sex
The Enel Group companies in Colombia operate in a traditionally male-dominated sector, where most of the technical and managerial positions have been occupied by men. However, for some years now we have been focused on changing this reality through the generation of equal opportunities for men and women in all the processes of our management. The most important points we have worked on so far are:
- "De-masculinizing" the energy sector: we are looking for more and more women to become involved and grow professionally in the sector.
- Equal opportunities: opening technical and administrative posts to men and women, as well as balancing out salaries, promotion and professional development.
- Responsible and inclusive management: We constantly gauge the positive impact of our Gender Equity Policies, investigate behavior in all areas of our business, and actively engage departments in anti-inequality campaigns.
Since December 2013 we have reaffirmed our commitment to diversity and have participated in part of the pilot test for the Certification of Labor Equality Seal EQUIPARES. This is an initiative geared towards cultural and organizational transformation, spearheaded by the Ministry of Labor, the Presidential High Council for Women's Equity and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), a tool for cultural, business and organizational transformation, which seeks to eliminate inequalities, barriers and gender gaps at work.
The EQUIPARES Equal Opportunity Employment Seal aims to build a more equitable country, with dignified, decent and quality jobs, through the implementation of a Gender Equality Management System, which is aimed at eliminating obstacles and promoting cultural transformation. It is the first step to ensure, through tangible tools and conditions, that true equality is achieved as it reveals the gender gaps present within an organization, and applies measures that allow for them to be corrected.
