  • The partnership consisted of the development of a diploma course in which more than 50 people took part from municipalities such as Gigante, Garzón and Altamira.
  • Participants received training in topics related to the composition of the Colombian State and citizen oversight, thus promoting the active participation of these leaders in the growth of their communities.
  • The graduation ceremony was held on September 8 in Garzón.

In order to train public officials and community leaders of central Huila, EMGESA, in a partnership with the Higher School of Public Administration (ESAP, for the Spanish original), developed the diploma course in Leadership and Public Management for Social Development. This workshop was delivered to 53 people from the municipalities of Altamira, El Agrado, Garzón, Gigante, Tesalia and Paicol.

The diploma course took place between May and August of this year at the Luis Calixto Leiva Educational Institution in Garzón with the objective of providing public officials and municipal authorities with tools to carry out their work in an efficient and competent manner. Also, community leaders were trained in order to play an active role in the development of their communities through management and social control.

As for the topics of the diploma course, they were intended to serve as tools to have an impact on local development through institutional strengthening, enabling the training and empowerment of communities and authorities, in order for them to have the skills necessary in the future to manage and lead the processes and undertakings required in the region through the government in favor of the development of the region.

The partnership between ESAP and EMGESA, which allowed the diploma course to be carried out free of charge for attendees, was possible thanks to the Shared Value strategy being developed by the Company, which aims to promote social programs and projects in the communities where it operates, through inter-institutional partnerships.

As the closing event, the graduation ceremony for those who attended the diploma course in Leadership and Public Management for Development was held on September 8 at the Coofisam Auditorium in Garzón. Completion certificates were given to participants by officials of EMGESA and ESAP Huila, Caquetá and Bajo Putumayo.
