Non-conventional renewable energy

Enel making Colombia a greener country

In Colombia, non-conventional renewable energy is a reality!

Non-Conventional Renewable Energy Sources (NCRES) refer to clean energy sources whose production levels are still relatively low. In Colombia, solar and wind energy are considered NCRES, as they currently represent a small share of the country’s energy mix. However, an increasing number of projects are being developed using the power of the sun and wind, and through Enel Green.

Why is it important to have non-conventional renewable projects?

In addition to generating clean energy and contributing to the country’s decarbonization goals, NCRES projects will help diversify Colombia’s energy mix, making it more reliable, secure, and efficient. For example, they can complement hydro generation during drought periods or in the event of an El Niño phenomenon.
