You can now produce and sell your own energy

With the issuance of CREG Resolution 174 of 2021 and CREG Resolution 135 of 2021, users may, through a photovoltaic system, harness solar energy to generate electricity. These resolutions establish the mechanisms that allow users who generate electricity for their own consumption to connect to the public grid and sell their surplus energy. This new regulation is undoubtedly a major step forward for the incorporation of renewable energy in our country, which, due to its geographic conditions, is consolidating its position as a renewable energy powerhouse.

Large-Scale Self-Generator: If you are a user with a self-generation capacity greater than 1 MW and less than or equal to 5 MW.

Small-Scale Self-Generator: Refers to users who have a self-generation system with a capacity less than or equal to 1 MW.

Distributed Generator: Legal entities with a capacity equal to or less than 1 MW that deliver energy to the grid in accordance with their economic activity.

Follow these steps to complete the process:

1. Start your connection process here. If you are not yet a registered user, we invite you to complete the registration process so you can access My Enel Online Branch.

2. Here you can check the status of and submit a petition regarding your Self-Generator and/or DG application.

3. Any self-generator connected to the SDL or STR with installed capacity equal to or greater than 100 kW must contract backup capacity from the grid. Upon issuance of design approval, the interested party must enter into a Backup Agreement with Enel Colombia, in accordance with the provisions of CREG Resolution 015 of 2018. For this purpose, the interested party may contact the responsible department by email at: planeamientodelared@enel.com and carlos.laiton@enel.com. In any event, if more than five (5) business days elapse without the interested party initiating the process to execute the backup agreement, Enel Colombia will contact the interested party to begin the corresponding process.
