Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about an electrical connection!
A standard connection is one that, due to its characteristics, does not require a detailed analysis of network conditions for connection. This category includes small residential buildings, small commercial establishments, and small industrial facilities.
Special connections are those that, due to their characteristics, require additional analysis in order to be served, such as detailed designs, complex construction works, and network studies to determine connection feasibility.
This process is regulated nationwide by the CREG and standardized for all network operators in the country through CREG Resolution 075 of 2021 and the circular attached to this resolution, CREG Circular 001 of 2023.
To request a special connection, contact us at: activaciones.colombia@enel.com. If you need a standard connection, complete our Procedures and Requests form, attaching the required documents. You may also complete this process in person at our Enel Service Centers.
- Standard connections
The standard connection process has a handling time of 12 business days from the date of application filing.
- Special Connections
Processing times depend on the stage of the process you are in:
o Feasibility studies: 7 días hábiles desde la radicación.
o Low Voltage (LV) Design/Work Completion Approval: 7 business days from the date of application filing.
o Medium Voltage (MV) Design/Work Completion Approval: 15 business days from the date of application filing.
The connection process procedures are free of charge. Only the applicable rate schedule charges apply for activities such as meter installation and sealing, calibration, meter supply, and connection rights. Of these charges, only the connection rights and installation labor must be transferred to the end user; the remaining charges may be assumed by the builder.
